Project brief/

Integrate a hybrid office with a variety of working environments into the industrial suburb of Rosebery. For the client, Zoom, include a working kitchen for an afternoon Aperitivo and/or catering for venue hire.

Direction/

In a world where working from home is becoming the new and favourite normal provoking us to design a home away from home work environment. Where business can transpire by day in a collective or individual space and come afternoon sees the workplace transition into an Aperitivo by the upstairs fireplace. The conceptual approach and homely palette also taking inspiration from the Zoom employees family spirit and culture.

Return/

Our initial exploration sketches guided us to our ‘levels’ concept which has been incorporated into the design not only visually but we also explored levels in a different spectrum. Raised floor and wall segments have been designed to create study nooks throughout the building. Utilising these segments we have incorporated different style study nooks which in turn, have created changing levels of privacy and a variety of surrounding noise levels allowing the users a selection of environments to work in. As not all users have the same preferred working styles, we feel like our office design has an option for everyone co-habiting the space. The installation of large arched windows into the breakout space on level one creates an additional natural light source whilst still adhering to the rental agreement.
